01

The context

Aurora’s early platform, built elsewhere over more than a year, had become difficult to maintain. What began as an engagement to finish its MVP became a rebuild of the underlying application.

02

Our contribution

We rebuilt the web application, APIs, and configurable questionnaire and calculation engine, reverse-engineering the original emissions calculations into a scalable engine. The wider Tweak Carbon work connected carbon scoring with banking data, added payment integrations, supported a white-label platform, and took the app to the iOS and Android stores with React Native.

03

The result

A rebranded MVP launched first and the full platform followed within the same year. Now known as Tweak Carbon, the platform has been used by Spar and Investec, and was acquired by Old Mutual, which offered it as its Tweak sustainability app, documented in Vodacom’s 2023 social report.

“Bluebird Technologies worked quickly without compromising the quality of their work. They maintained an excellent communication approach and provided regular updates on the progress of deliverables. Their skillset in development was impressive.”
