Website termsThis notice explains what we collect when you visit bluebird.tech, talk to our assistant, or contact us, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Who we are
This website is operated by Software Station (Pty) Ltd, trading as Bluebird Technologies, in Somerset West, South Africa. Software Station (Pty) Ltd is the responsible party for the information described here. You can reach us at info@bluebird.tech.
What we collect
- Enquiries. When you use the contact form or email us, we receive what you send: your name, email address, company if you give it, the topic you chose, and your message. If you ask for the Pilot-to-Production Checklist, we receive the email address you give; it tells us who found it useful, and a person may write once to ask how it went. Both forms have an optional box for occasional updates by email: we record it only if you tick it.
- Conversations with our assistant. When you write to the assistant behind “Ask Bluebird”, we keep the conversation: what you write, its replies, and when each was sent. If you give it your name or contact details, we keep those with it.
- What you are looking at when you write to the assistant. Each message you send the assistant carries the address of the page you are on (without any query string), its title, the heading of the section in view, any text you have highlighted on the page, and the last few pages you opened, sections you read and links or buttons you clicked on this website in the same tab. The assistant uses it to understand what you are asking about, and we keep it with the conversation. It never includes what you type into a form, and nothing is sent until you send a message.
- The chat session. The assistant keeps an identifier for your conversation in your browser’s session storage, so that it carries on from page to page, along with the short list of recent pages, sections and clicks described above. Both are cleared when you close the tab.
- Unsent drafts. Your contact-form draft and the email you enter for the checklist are kept in this browser tab so you can return to them, including after reading this notice. They are cleared after a successful submission, when you choose Clear draft or Clear email, or when you end the browser session. They are not sent to us until you submit the relevant form.
- Technical logs. Our hosting provider records standard request data such as IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps, to keep the site secure and available.
- Preferences. If you change the site’s settings (motion, sound, day or night theme, and the quality of the landscape), those choices are stored in your browser only, as is a record of your last visit. We use that record to skip the opening animation when you return within 60 days. These preferences and the visit record remain in your browser until you clear them. None of it is sent to us.
We do not run advertising trackers or analytics cookies on this site.
Why we use it
We use enquiry details and conversations with our assistant to answer you and to follow up on a conversation you started. If you ticked the box for updates, we may also send you occasional updates by email until you ask us to stop. We use technical logs to protect the site and diagnose problems. Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and, where it applies, the GDPR, our lawful basis is your request to be contacted, your consent for updates, which you can withdraw at any time, and our legitimate interest in running a secure website.
How our assistant works
Replies from our assistant are written by AI models. To answer you, the assistant sends your message, what you were looking at when you sent it, the conversation so far and what we have told it about Bluebird to the AI provider that writes the reply. A person on our team can read a conversation. The assistant can make mistakes; check anything important with us.
Who sees it
Form submissions go to our team’s request inbox in Software Station, our own platform, together with whether you agreed to updates. The site is served by our hosting provider. Our assistant also runs on Software Station, hosted on Amazon Web Services and MongoDB Atlas in Ireland, and its replies are written by Anthropic’s AI models, which may process your conversation in other countries, including the United States, while they handle it for us. Each acts on our instructions. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries and conversations with our assistant for as long as the conversation is live and for a reasonable period afterwards as a business record. Technical logs are kept for a short period by the hosting provider. Ask us and we will delete your enquiry or conversation.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email info@bluebird.tech and we will respond. In South Africa you may also complain to the Information Regulator.
